I'm currently writing this in the Dallas airport as I await to embark on yet another Antarctic deployment for five more months. These photos were taken about a month ago whilst visiting friends in Portland and Seattle and looking upon these brings me such joy. Not only because it was a wonderful trip with wonderful people, but because I can still feel the heat of that early evening, still remember the breeze through this beautifully light dress, still reflect on a feeling of pure satisfaction that everything, even if for a few minutes, was quite right. I'm about to leave for a freezing desert, and it's nice especially to have these moments to warm me during the cold months ahead (yes this is sappier than my usual but I'm feeling contemplative today, so sue me!).
On this momentous Thursday of Thursdays, the monster that is Fashion Month kicks off starting in our beloved city of New York. This means the creme de la creme of the fashion world flock to the bustling city and flaunt their style chops. It's the best people watching if you can make it down the Lincoln Center anytime in the next seven days. Sadly, I can't be there this year, so I thought I would participate in spirit and put all my style stalking to good use! So without further ado...
I thought I'd start off day one with an easy all-black outfit, an obvious favorite of mine. I started the outfit off with this midi leather skirt. It felt fall-appropriate but wasn't too hot though the sun was shining bright today (it seems the weather clearly forgot to switch into fall mode already!). The idea of light layers was perfect to beat the heat and this floaty chiffon dress was a nod to the bohemian trends so prevalent right now, but less obvious with its black and white color story and deep V plunge. It feels more va-va-voom than flower child. Finally, this long jacket is an MVP in my fall wardrobe as a great light-weight layer or buttons all the way as a dress. A pair of monk strap flats and a long pendant necklace and I'm done! Chic, comfortable, and easy.
