I warned you I wasn't going to be able to put as much effort into my London Fashion Week fantasies as I'm currently in panic mode making sure I have everything together before I leave for another round of Antarctic work. But, because I knew I was only going to have one shot, I thought I'd make it as classically British as possible, and what better inspiration is there than Beatle boots and mod, striped blazers? Though an orange striped blazer with big gold metal buttons and a split tail hem isn't my normal go-to outfit, I must say this is one of my favorite vintage pieces I own. The 1940's are such a good fit for my body type (hello broad shoulders!) that anytime I find something from that decade, I scoop it up with gusto. Gusto!
Because the blazer is such a statement piece, I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit minimal to let the jacket really sing. So, a light white sweater, some white jeans and some killer white patent ankle boots are clearly the way to go. And can we talk about these boots? I bought them right before I left for Antarctica last season and never had the opportunity to trot them out, which is a darn shame. So, in the name of all things white and patent, I've been wearing them constantly to make up for lost time.
Vive La London!
