Spring Dreaming

As the sun continues to set here in Antarctica, my mind wanders to these photos, taken by Susan Stewart of Love Hunters early last fall. It was so warm and the evening was so fun, it's hard not to wish to be in the States for the oncoming spring, too. Greenery! Oh, how I miss thee. The polar landscape has it's own breathtaking vistas (we've already had some austral auroras!) so I can't truly complain, but these photos do create a tinge of sadness and lust for warmth.

Taken in Forage, an incredibly beautiful and curated greenery showroom and event stylist on Frankfurt Avenue in Louisville, KY, these photos are a harbinger of spring come none too soon. Though nothing too new, I always think of florals in such a romantic way, which is why when I found this dress at my favorite Goodwill, I immediately thought of English countrysides and a bite in the air, which is why I paired it with a long overcoat and over-the-ankle boots (fur lined, no less!).  Susan felt the same way, too and suggested Forage as a backdrop, which was a stroke of thematic genius.

In an effort to help out those with more time on their hands than searching through racks and racks of clothes at thrift stores or tabs and tabs of pages on Etsy, below you'll find a bunch of floral dresses that I absolutely adore, and hope you do, too!

I started looking for long sleeve floral dresses but ended up throwing in a few others I thought were pretty!

Pink is the Color of Your Energy (Whoaaaa)

If you've been living under a rock, or between a rock and a hard place, or listening to too much rock music (and not the pathetic reference to 311 in the title of this piece), then you must have missed the memo that pink – hot pink specifically – is super hot right now. Don't feel bad! Fall is just now upon us, so take this as a rose-hued harbinger for autumn and start to #thinkpink.

Look One: Like you like the color pink, but it's just a casual relationship

You swiped left, you're getting a coffee together and you're thinking maybe, just maybe, you could consider incorporating pink into your busy life. And while you're debating the merits of a hot (pink) relationship, you know you can always fall back on an old faithful: culottes. Because you know that some love never runs dry.

So you like the idea of pink but want to take it a step further? You're in luck, you rascal maximalist, you! Dark-backed florals are very trendy for fall and a great way to vocalize your love of pink without needing to shout at your houseguests about it. So whether you're actually in an exotic international paradise or dressed to fool yourself into believing you are, this is your look. Cocktail (and equally delusional friends) required.

Look Three: More, More, MORE!

How do you like it? Wearing basically the equivalent of one of those hot pink bagels blowing up Instagram but with a buttload of edible glitter in the middle. Go buck wild with various shades of pink and show people that while you aspire to be a giant piece of bubblegum, you meant to transparent about it (Get it? Because of the clear boots? Nailed it.).

Whether you want to use a little or a lot, just please don't listen to 311.
