A month ago, I spotted a post on WWW that challenged ladies (and gents) to push themselves out of their comfort zone and incorporate different trends or styles each day. Some were easier than others (I'm lookin' at you, "wear something sporty in a chic way" day! you stumped me!) but the whole month really taught me a valuable lesson: don't rest on your laurels.
It's so easy for me to grab the same six items in my wardrobe every day without giving it much thought. And most of the pieces I lean toward are basic, white, or black. Not that I don't appreciate my approach to style, but it was really fun to try new things everyday and really stretch my styling legs. Some days I didn't feel as comfortable in my outfit and changed halfway through the day - but knowing what you're not comfortable in is almost more valuable than knowing what brings you the most comfort. It allows you to narrow in and really cull a genuine personal style that is truly, 100% you. Below are my favorite days, but you can check out the whole 30 days on my Instagram!
Starting top left to right:
1. Try a fancy dress with a pair of flats 2. Rock a blazer and cut-off jean shorts combo 3. Match a neutral outfit with a bold clutch 4. Try an ear cuff! 5. Wear a long blouse over a pair of jeans 6. Try a halter top!
As you can see, most of my favorite days were well within my wheelhouse and favored my penchant for neutral colors (and leafy backdrops!). But, having never tried these combinations before, my wardrobe seemed vaster and more exciting than it had in a long time!
